How to relieve tired achy feet

At the end of the day, my feet are often killing me and I'm wondering how to relieve tired achy feet. My feet never really bothered me when I was younger and I've had a number of jobs where I was on my feet all day.  For the past several months, I've noticed more and more that my feet are tired and uncomfortable at the end of the day.   I'd love to slip off for a few hours for a relaxing foot massage at the spa but sadly that's not going to be happening soon.  Here are a few things you can try when you're wondering how to relieve tired achy feet.

How to relieve tired achy feet

  • Take a bath - The warm water with sooth away any aches and pains and help improve blood flow. Drop in a few drops of lavender essential oil, close your eyes, and relax.
  • Soak your feet - Add two tablespoons of Epsom salts into a tub of warm water.  Soak your feet for 15 minutes.   Epsom salts can dry out your skin so make sure you add lotion to your skin afterwards.
  • Give yourself a foot massage - If you don't have someone to give you a foot massage, the next best thing is to give yourself one.  Add some scented lotion and use your thumbs to gently massage the fleshy parts of your heel.
  • Use a peppermint body lotion on your feet to leave them feeling energized after a long day.  Make sure the lotion contains real peppermint oil in it for this effect.
  • Treat your tired achy feet to a pedicure.  Read my post on how to give yourself a pedicure.
  • Slip your feet into a pair of comfortable slippers.

When I get home, I sometimes forget to kick off my shoes at the door.  While I love my shoes, they aren't all the most comfortable things to wear when you're on your feet all day.  Sometimes when I do kick off my shoes at the door, I end up wandering around on our hardwood floors in my bare feet.  As I've gotten older, I notice that walking around in my bare feet on hard floors is not all that comfortable any more. Slipping on a pair of comfortable slippers is a necessity.

Smartdogs by Grandoe use Comfort IQ, an exclusive temperature regulating technology that Grandoe has used for some time in their glove line.  These slippers actually store body heat until they sense your feet need it and then gradually release warmth.  The Smartdogs slipper is available in Posy (a hoodback style) and Jasmine (a clog style).    They are constructed with Cozee fabric upper, brushed polyester lining and a corduroy collar.  Each is embellished with a cute fleece flower on the side.

I really love how comfortable the Posy slippers are.  I've been having heel pain for the past few months that makes it very uncomfortable to walk around in my bare feet or my old pair of slippers.  The Posy slippers are so soft and comfortable that I can walk around and not be bothered by heel pain. These are a great way to relieve tired achy feet at the end of the day.

  1. Now that I am pregnant again my feet are always tired and achy! I usually talk my niece into rubbing them, but I am going to try out some of your tips... I have never used Epsom salt, even though I have always heard about it, I will give it a shot!

  3. You know, I have to say these are pretty darn neat- I bet my mother would love them. I can't begin to comprehend how they store the body heat and release it to regulate....But I'm certainly going to consider a pair for my mom this Christmas!

  6. I Love to soak my feet in some Good Foot soak with bath salts and I put on Peppermint Vanilla foot cream because I find it to be the most soothing for me anyway.
